Whats even worse is the fact that the Sage Jannett, becoming the dedicated healer is about as braindead as you can get. She has excellent damage output, but only passable at best healing thanks to her high levels from her damage output. By focusing on healing, her damage output drops and her leveling stalls. Now her healing and damage both fall behind as the dungeons get harder. The party still has no intention to nurture their healer, so in the end she’ll end up in the same state as Russell where she is worthless as a party member due to huge level disparity, inability to reasonably damage the now stronger monsters, and useless healing.

Annnnd my earlier prediction gains more credibility, but with minor tweaks.
The hero(LOL) party keeps on what they’ve been doing, end up in a boss fight where isn’t enough to keep up with the damage they’re taking and not being cast quick enough, sage is forced to focus entirely on recovery, and when they’re looking like the party is gonna get wiped the hero(LOL) is gonna try and use the holy knight as a decoy to run while taking sage and mage with him, sage gives him a verbal beat down, mage hopefully roasts him a bit (literally) while scolding them about a magi-class sage being insufficient to do the role of a recovery mage only to find out that “initiative” is long since lost and she has no reason to hang around them anymore because of the sage and holy knight’s idiocy and the hero’s(LOL) greed and lust before snapping verbally berating them and leaving them to die.
Yeah. And remember I told you about the greed of the other members? This chapter showed a bit on the side of the sage. I think she has some superiority complex and desire to be the best. Lol.
Yeah i can see that. Personally among the three stooges i see sage as second most likely to make a deal for power since hero is driven by one of humanities three base desires. Sage is driven by her own thirst for knowledge but her actions are also influenced by her want to keep Russell out of the line of fire and the holy knight just wanted Russell to be safe. Of them the one following most true to thier own greed is the hero(LOL). Ive been reading arifureta for years so when a mutated dick sneeze of a hero shows up in stories i reflexively add (LOL) after hero.
Actually on further introspection i think the sage’s actions make sense. She is most likely going to fail but the alternative is admitting that not only the hero(LOL) and holy knight were wrong to kick out Russell but herself as well. In a way her trying to cover the healer role is in a way stating she won’t accept another recovery mage being added. It’s foolish and arrogant but can be interpreted as her refusing anyone trying to replace Russell. If I’m proven right then i may start referring to the sage by name.

She has a high probability of being another goddess. She was mentioned by name by Sybilla in the a previous chapter so she is at least aware of her. (katie being a nickname for cathrine) and based on this chapter they are on opposing sides since it was mentioned that “the initiative was stolen.” but this is all just inferred from the miniscule info i have on the mage. So she maybe the sun goddess’s physical incarnation or at the very least a higher up member of the sun goddess’s followers/believers.

I think it’s a set pattern. Male hero means the holy maiden will be one of his childhood friends and female hero would have the saint as a childhood friend. It’s just my speculation so take it with a grain of salt but it seems plausible.
