[Sasha’s pregnant, I see.]
A day has passed after we confirmed Sasha’s pregnancy. I am now currently speaking with my unsurprised Mother who came here all the way from the territory to dote on her grandchildren.
[I have to send my regards to Sasha then.] (Grandma)
[Doesn’t seem like you find it worth celebrating considering how calm you are.] (Calis)
[Looking at you right now, I can hardly be surprised if you and Sasha bear a child once every year. It’s no exaggeration to say you’re in heat regardless it’s summer, spring, winter and autumn, no?] (GM)
[I’m not that vulgar, Mother. There’s no other woman I’d feel passionate about apart from Sasha.] (C)
Intercourse is just one of the many ways for me to express my love and affection for Sasha. Because pleasure can be felt in some other ways. I’m not really particular to the methods as long as I can dote on her. All year in heat, she says. Nope. I won’t accept it. Not at all.
[Then I better step up and look after my grandchildren, I suppose.] (GM)
[Of course not, Mom. There’s no need as I am more than enough to take care of them.] (C)
[You have to be there for Sasha in addition to the three kids. I wonder where this confidence comes from?] (GM)
[You might not know this but we have splendid servants here in the estate. With their help, there’s nothing for you to worry. I won’t let Sasha nor the kids feel lonely or neglected.] (C)
[Speaking of servants… Basil’s handmaiden is called Yuri, correct?] (GM)
[Oh, right. It seems Basil’s getting closer to her than you, Mother.] (C)
[As if you’re better. It worries me however that child Yuri would aim for Basil in the future.] (GM)
[I don’t think that’s something we should worry about.] (C)
[How can you be certain?] (GM)
I’ve thought of such possibilities myself and already made up my mind on how should I face it.
[Because if that’s the case, if Basil himself likes her, then I’d be there to support her.] (C)
[Are you serious? We’re talking about a servant here, no?] (GM)
[I don’t really care about their differences in status. Love is blind after all. At the very least, as long as I am Basil’s father, I have an obligation to support him no matter who he falls in love with.] (C)
[Can you say the same for both Laurel and Mint as well?] (GM)
[Of course.] (C)
If Laurel falls to a man of common status rather than the prince, then I’d wholeheartedly support her. The same goes for Mint too. But that is under the assumption that the other person isn’t some hoodlum. As long as that person cherishes and guarantees my daughters’ happiness, then as a parent, I’d have to acquiesce in such relations. Letting go of my daughters won’t be easy, I know. But I have to recognize the fact that someday, they’d be living their lives on their own. When that time comes, as their father, a little push and setting them off with a smile might be my very last role.
[*Sigh* I see. Then I shall not pry any further.] (GM)
[Thanks, Mom. That would be great.] (C)
[However, if that time actually comes, I shall take upon myself to educate that child and ensure she becomes a fitting mistress of the next duke Fall.] (GM)
[Sure, though I still think that such worries are unnecessary.] (C)
I am not really enthusiastic about having the futures of the children decided by grown ups. As long as they grow healthy and satisfied, for me, that’s more than enough. Will there be any more gratifying than growing old with Sasha together with our son and daughters? I don’t think so. That’s why for our three, no, four children, my only wish is for them to grow filled with energy and happiness.
Translator’s Notes:
- WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD FOOL AROUND A DUKE’S DAUGHTER WHO HAS A FATHER WHO WIPED OUT A BANDIT GROUP BY HIMSELF T.T YOU EITHER FALL FOR LAUREL OR YOU HAVE A DEATH SENTENCE, OR BOTH. HAHAHA
- I’m actually torn between Grandma and Calis here. 🙁 I know freedom is important, but so is tradition. It’s just really painful balancing them both 🙁 . The news about Japan’s princess abandoning her status as a monarch for her fiancé remains fresh in my memories though. I hope they find a balance regarding such issues in the future.
- WARNING. NEXT NOTE IS HEAVILY UNRELATED.
- THIS IS SO DAMN UNRELATED TO THE TOPIC BUT I JUST WANT TO HAVE AN OUTLET WHERE I CAN RELEASE THIS FEAR AND STRESS. I ONCE FELT WHAT’S LIKE TO BE ON POINT BLANK RANGE OF A DEADLY WEAPON BEFORE PAST 10 YEARS AGO. I CAN’T BELIEVE I ALMOST FELT IT AGAIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES AGO. I WAS DROPPING OFF A FRIEND IN THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD AND ITS 8:30 IN THE EVENING WHEN I NOTICED SOMEONE IN THE SIDE MIRROR CREEPING UP FROM AT THE BACK OF THE CAR. DO YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT BLOODLUST FEELS? MY GOD. MY HEART BEAT SO FAST. ONCE I SAW MY FRIEND TURNED AROUND I IMMEDIATELY DROVE OFF WHEN I NOTICED SOMEONE ELSE WAS TRYING TO WALK IN FRONT OF THE CAR. OMG. AHHHH I CAN’T. THANK GOD I’M ALRIGHT. HAAAAAAAAAAAAA
5. As you know guys, I’m away from the country and from my family. I can only vent here as I don’t want them to worry if I post anything in SNS. Ah, gosh. I prayed so hard while moving far away from that street. I don’t want to go there at night ever again.

You’re welcome!
For the record, the Princess in Japan didn’t have a legal claim to the throne in the first place. They would have to amend the Constitution of Japan, which currently only recognizes male heirs. There was a movement to do this and recognize her as the heir, but it didn’t go anywhere.
Further, the non-heirs (in other words, female scions) always lose their royal status upon marriage. So it’s not so much she had to give up her royal status as she could only keep it by staying single for life or by marrying into a foreign royalty (which I don’t believe has ever happened for a Japanese royal).
Heyyyy, thank you for letting me know! I really appreciate it!
I’m really interested about the topic as well. Would you mind if I ask quite a few things? The claim to the throne notwithstanding, does she still belong to the family tree? How about the child she’ll be having with her commoner partner? Is she still entitled to financial inheritance or some sort from her royal lineage? Were all the privileges and rights she had before now entirely gone? I’m sorry if this is too much to ask but if you can send me a link where I can refer the answers to, I’d really really appreciate it! Again, thank you!
I’m just really interested with culture and history.
Okay, first let’s clarify something. We are talking about Princess Mako, who is a niece of the Emperor and the daughter of the current crown prince, the emperor’s brother. The movement I mentioned was because of Princess Aiko, a college student who is still a princess. She’s the only child of the Emperor, and many people wanted to change the constitution so she could inherit. It’s not like there’s never been a female emperor: the last one was about 250 years ago. It’s the constitution installed after WWII that created the restriction. The interest in the amendment was because there were no male heirs after the current crown prince in any eligible branch. It was all girls. But a male baby was born (son of the crown prince) and PM Abe said, ‘welp, let’s get rid of this proposed amendment then!’
It was a very unpopular decision, but popular among old male politicians, so, no more proposed amendment.
The constitutional amendment would have put Mako into the succession as well, moving her into third place, I believe. So, it did affect her succession rights.
About her marriage: Normally, Princess Mako, now Mrs. Mako Komuro, would have left the Imperial family with a very generous dowry, more than a million US dollars, but her husband’s family was involved in some kind of scandal, so she voluntarily declined the money. But she married rich, so she isn’t hurting.
Obviously, her family isn’t going to cut her off privately. She’ll still be invited to private gatherings, but officially she no longer has anything to do with the Imperial Household, so public appearances are out.
I am so thankful for taking the effort into typing these things.
Woow! This is really new to me and to be honest, the politics side of Japan isn’t really familiar to me so this one’s really helpful. Thank you so much!
In a sense, even if you’re publicly cut off, you are still in the protection of the imperial family, albeit privately, so I think that’s a very fortunate thing. I think now obtained better understanding about the topic. Thank you!!!
Glad you’re ok bud
Thank you!
That must have been scary! So glad you’re okay!
It was! My neighbor even asked me if I was alright as I was still pale when I got back. Gosh. Thank you!
Don’t hesitate to run the bastards over. My mother got shot by a carjacker; she survived but nearly lost her leg.
I hope your mother’s doing fine now.
I will sure do. I pray for those people to receive divine punishment, if not, I’d give it to them firsthand. (If adrenaline strikes me cos I know I’d be scared T.T)
Holy… gosh, I would definitely had a heart attack if something like this was to happen to me. I really glad that you’re fine and had enough reaction to leave the situation.
Thats crazy , the only creepy encouter i had to deal with was of the supernatural sort and that one time somebody grabbed my balls while crossing the street
