Chapter 56-1: The Path I am Going to Take to be with the Majestic Holy Knight

[–<Stone Wall>!]

My consciousness which was slowly drifting away from reality was pulled back by that scream.

A wall so high like I’ve never seen before appeared on the middle of the floor which tells me that the magic Sybilla used was perhaps double casted.

.

And that fresh and sturdy wall made of stone immediately got shaved from a devastating roar coming from the opposite direction!

.

[The blue gigantos are specializing in small scale magic shockwaves! We might be able to deal with the attacks of the small ones but that one on the other side will be a pain! I’ll handle that one!]

.

The demon lord of Seiris’ third dungeon has definitely outsmarted Sybilla.

This is ‘Sybilla’ we’re talking about.

.

However, she isn’t taking the fact that she was outwitted get into her.

There’s only one thing inside her head.

It’s how to be able to get the best outcome despite this devastating situation.

.

We believe that she’ll be able to do so that’s why me and Emmy started to make our move.

.

[<Dark Splash>!]

[Teeeeeeeei!]

.

I fire off the long range offensive dark magic that I just learned while Emmy dashes to a small giganto (albeit it’s still quite big on its own) close to us and bashes it with her shield and blows it away.

.

[This boss is so unfair that its attack can cover the entire floor making it not less than a cheat! This monster is really an abnormality!]

[<Dark Splash>! Is that even possible!?]

[As far as I know the situation has already evolved to the point that all countermeasures I’ve prepared are useless! It changed in such a way that I’m fully equipped to explore sand dunes when the actual place I arrive at is a snowy mountain. It doesn’t matter how well experienced the person is if the premise itself of the countermeasure was destroyed… Guh, the wall is breaking faster than I expected! <Stone Wall>!]

.

Our discussion was cut midway but I already heard the things needed to be said.

Imagine wearing clothes so thin to be able to cope with the hot weather then found out that the place you headed to is a snowy mountain in the middle of winter… It can’t be anything else but frightening…

.

Right now, since the nearby blue gigantos are showering us with their long range magic, the big shot shouldn’t make any aggressive move for the meantime .

Or so how it should be but that big shot isn’t just simply attacking but is launching a full offensive magic far more powerful than the ones around it.

We’ve been prioritizing blocking and avoiding attacks from the beginning since we entered this dungeon but the current situation is far different than what we had imagined.

We were able to rely on Sybilla in the beginning from her immediate reaction and somehow survive this long but facing that monster head on without that stonewall isn’t something I want to think of doing so.

But because of it, we are force into a situation where all of Sybilla’s attention is to defend against that monster–.

.

[Ugh….!]

[Russell!?]

[Don’t worry, no problems here!]

.

It seems that even my wind barrier that’s double casted can’t keep up with the barrage of the upper level’s bosses.

I tried receiving the attacks with my shield but their offensive magic just spreads out from there. I can feel pain coming from my arms like it’s being drilled in by nails.

.

(<Extra Heal Link>)

.

Just in case, but I think I have to avoid being conspicuous while casting recovery magic to everyone so I won’t chant.

.

Anyway, being the one on the receiving end of long range offensive magic is so troublesome. I’d have to reduce their numbers first and give them a taste of a magic of my own.

Sure they’ve been wearing armors but that won’t give you any defensive advantage against my magic.

.

…But really, just how many of you blue gigantos are there?

With the exception of the floor boss, the enemies are… I can tell there are more than ten just looking at them.

Yareyare, aren’t they the upper level’s floor boss? Is it really alright for them to be this many like some cheap goods that can be found anywhere?

.

[Ugh,  <Stone Wall>! Russell, I’ll have you do something unreasonable for a bit!]

[What, just say it!]

.

I look towards Sybilla’s direction as she wipes off her mouth from just drinking a mana potion.

Seems like you’re really working hard there, huh.

.

[I’ll have you make use <Dark Splash> to its full potential. And that’s… to get close and shoot it to their face! You’ll be able to fire off offensive magic faster than abyss nail but you’ll hit by the blue gigantos in return!]

[Are blue gigantos weaker than a dragon!?]

[<Stone Wall>! Ofcourse, it’s much better to be hit by them than a body slam of a fire dragon!]

[Not dying makes everything so easy (cheap)!]

.

I listened to Sybilla’s advice and sprinted my way towards the armored blue giganto without hesitation and began my barrage.

.

[GUOOaoaoaohhh—!]

[<Dark Splash>! Guh..!]

.

As Sybilla had said, the blue gigantos won’t just keep on using their magic against enemies who’re able to close down on them.

I felt my body shiver the moment the gigantos fist reached me before I felt the impact and flew so fast to the point the giganto’s body got smaller from my view in an instant and had my back slam against the wall.

.

[<Abyss Nail>!]

(<Extra Heal>)

.

Perhaps being driven to a corner helped me to grow but I somehow pulled off being able to use offensive and recovery magic at the same time in actual combat.

My body’s now in good shape too… Seems the recovery magic casted without chanting together with the Abyss Nail is a success.

.

I got up and return to the battlefield once again from being smashed on the ground.

It might be a bit painful but I will survive.

The fact that I was able to defeat a fire dragon makes me believe I can do so.

.

There’s still the Demon Lord after this.

I have to hit that bastard’s face no matter what or else I will not be satisfied.

.

That’s why I can’t just let myself get beaten up by these monsters who are just try hard mages when the only thing they have are their large bodies!

.

[<Enchant Darkness>]

.

I pulled my sword from my waist and let the dark mana engulf it and let out a black glow.

I tighten my grip to my sword using my right hand as I ran to the enemy in front of me with my left hand stretching forward!

.

[<Dark Splash>!]

[Guguaugauguaaaaaaaaaaaaaoooooooh!]

.

The blue giganto took some damage but it still manages to lift up it its fist covered in armor and swing it towards my direction.

Its fist is getting closer but… I have my sword here as well for you!

.

[This is payback from that one earlier!]

.

The moment my sword and gigantos fist clashed, I got blown away once again and took some damage. However, the injury that the armored blue giganto got is not comparable to mine. Its right fist from the dead center is crumbling.

I can see the blue giganto fuming in rage as it raises its left hand and starts its charge towards me. I await for it and I once again use dark splash in close range!

.

Finally, the blue giganto stumbled from left to right and finally went down.

I use my sword coated in magic to finish it off and took the chance to take a good look on my surroundings.

.

[<Stone Wall>]

.

I heard the chant of the magic that’s continuously being casted since earlier and look towards Sybilla. I just notice but the number of walls are increasing.

I see. Seems like the reason why attacks coming from other blue gigantos did not reach me is because of Sybilla.

She’s still able to perform exceedingly well and not let herself get affected despite the current situation. As expected of my partner.

.

[Thanks for the help, Sybilla!]

[Don’t get it wrong, I am the one being helped here!]

.

I’m not really sure if she’s grateful or just trying to hide being bashful but this is kind of uplifting. We can still have such conversations even if we’re surrounded by enemies everywhere and I can’t help the corner of my lips from slightly rising.

The big shot still remains but… I can see a little bit of hope defeating this monster.

.

–However, there’s someone who is not on the same page as us.

.

[Russell is- , he is being beaten up like that, despite Sybilla-san doing everything… I… No good… I wasn’t able to be of help again…!]

.

Emmy blows off the blue giganto and slashes it with her sword.

As expected of the physically strongest, one move and she was able to leave such a big dent…. However, its still far from causing significant damage and the giganto was almost able to avoid Emmy’s earlier attack.

The current Emmy isn’t really compatible with the armored blue gigantos as enemies.

Is it because of her emotions getting foggy? The light on her shield is getting dimmer by the second. I can see as well that the enemies aren’t getting blown off farther than usual.

.

[Pain, bruises, and everything, I hate all of it, despite of it I become the Holy Knight but I…!]

.

Seeing Emmy on the verge of tears almost crying and hearing her whisper those words… Has opened the door towards the old memory that resides in me.

.

Translator’s Note:

  1. Hi all! It has really been a while! Sorry for the wait as work IRL had really taken much almost everything from me. We, a humble third world country, has reached the chart already of the Top 20 countries with the most COVID-19 cases. Sigh. Here I am once again as I take a rest and recharge a bit before going back to the battlefield in the midst of the Pandemic! Feels like a line from a novel. lol

2. I hope you all are safe and well! Sorry for being talkative! missed my blog! Haha!

  1. Why does Sybilla look more like a close combatant than a mage? XP
